Peter Coleman
Chairman & NEDPeter Coleman
Chairman & NEDMr Coleman’s immense experience and knowledge spanning renewables, exploration and production and corporate governance will help shape H2EX as a leader in natural hydrogen exploration in Australia and globally.
For over a decade (2011-2021), Mr Coleman was the Managing Director and CEO of Woodside Petroleum Ltd (“Woodside”), Australia’s largest independent oil and gas producer. Whilst at the helm, Mr Coleman oversaw the acquisition and development of strategically important growth assets, including the Scarborough and Pluto Train 2 Project, as well as the establishment of industry leading innovation initiatives and clean energy projects in the solar and hydrogen sector. Prior to joining Woodside, Mr. Coleman spent 27 years with the ExxonMobil group in a variety of roles, including Vice President Development Asia Pacific and Vice President Production Americas.
In July 2021, Mr Coleman was appointed to the SLB Board of Directors. Schlumberger is an international renowned oil and gas services company with a market capitalisation of ~US$80 billion and has experience operating in over 120 countries. Most recently, Mr Coleman was appointed as independent Chairperson of Allkem, a global lithium chemicals company with a market capitalisation of ~A$8 billion. Mr Coleman is also the independent Chairperson of Infinite Green Energy and DIRECT Infrastructure, both renewable ventures in the green hydrogen and wind industries.
Mr Coleman currently serves as Chair of the Australia-Korea Foundation, a Commonwealth Government appointed role and member of the Monash University Industry Council of Advisors (MICA).


Mark Hanna
MD & DirectorMark Hanna
MD & DirectorMark is a business and marketing executive having worked predominantly in the oil and gas sector. Mark is the joint founder of H2EX Ltd.
For the last 25 years, Mark has predominantly worked in exploration and development. Specifically, Mark spent 20+ years working for Woodside Energy Ltd a large LNG, gas and oil production and exploration company (1997 to 2017). After Woodside, Mark assisted Beach Energy to secure the first gas backfill arrangements with the North West Shelf Project and as a result, Beach was able to take Final Investment Decision on the $700 million Waitsia gas project and will be commercialising its gas by exporting LNG internationally.
Mark has also worked in financial and strategy consulting and qualified as a Chartered Accountant.
Mark has jointly founded Oil and Gas Service companies in Australia with these being successfully sold to KKR (2015) and Swire Oilfield Services Group (2009).
Mark has worked on LNG, pipeline gas greenfield and brownfield opportunities and has a detailed understanding of how exploration discoveries are commercialised and the technical, marketing and funding work required to make a final investment decision. Mark has deep understanding of domestic and international energy markets and established international relationships with major global energy project developers and buyers.
Mark achieved accreditation as a Chartered Accountant, has an MBA from Melbourne University including exchange at UCLA (Dean’s list – top 5%) and has a Bachelor of Business undergraduate degree.


Greschen Brecker
CFO & DirectorGreschen Brecker
CFO & DirectorGreschen is proficient in all things commercial and treasury, with 20 years experience in the oil & gas sector and has held various roles at Woodside, Origin and Alinta Gas, including project lead in Mergers & Acquisitions, project lead on large-scale funding deals, senior commercial negotiator and team lead economic analysis.
Greschen has US$7 billion in executed transactions under her belt. In these M&A and treasury transactions, she has been involved in a material capacity, often as a project lead or a subject matter expert. This includes 3 x 144a bond issuances, a hybrid note and large-scale equity raise.
Specifically, Greschen led Woodside’s US$1.5 billion 144a bond issuance in 2019, which involved leading a large internal team, managing board expectations, pitching to investors and project managing the Joint Lead Managers (Citi, UBS and BAML) and credit rating agencies.
Greschen’s M&A experience included reporting directly to Woodside’s Corporate Head of M&A and she was 2IC on the successful US$400 million acquisition of 50% of BHP’s Scarborough area assets in 2016. Greschen is also skilled in complex fiscal regime economic modelling has presented her work to Federal Government departments and GeoScience Australia.
Greschen completed an MBA at the University of Western Australia and has a Bachelor of Commerce (Economics & Finance) undergraduate degree from Curtin University.


Ian Sylvester

Chief Technical OfficerIan is a visionary leader, with deep technical expertise at global top-tier companies; Chevron, BG and Woodside, as well as running his own consultancy business Egni Advisory.
Ian joined Woodside in 2005 as Chief Reservoir Engineer after a 13 year international career with BG. As Chief Reservoir Engineer, Ian was responsible for technical assurance, subsurface processes as well as staff recruitment and succession planning. A critical part of the role was leading internal and joint venture partner subsurface reviews at major project milestones such as concept select, FEED entry, final investment decisions and production performance updates. Ian was directly involved in due diligence for field acquisitions, bond raising and the 2018 equity raising associated with the Scarborough acquisition.
In 2012 Ian established and led the centralised Reservoir Management function consisting of approx 200 Reservoir engineers, Petrophysicists and Development Geoscientists. Corporate reserves and contingent resources were signed off by Ian as the ASX competent person.
Ian believes natural hydrogen can be a game changer in the adoption of hydrogen as a renewable energy source due to its low cost base.
Ian holds a Msc Petroleum Engineering from the Imperial College London, Business Administration and Management qualification from INSEAD and is a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
